How YOU can help at school

01

Sort through the trash bins at school

When you sort through trash, you reduce the amount of landfill waste sent to incinerators, which burns waste until it turns to ash. Incinerators emit greenhouse gases during combustion, contributing to climate change. Lets enforce proper recycling and composting! It can be as simple as popping on some gloves and going through the bins in your classroom!

02

Install rainwater harvesting systems at school

Although it is pricey, you can work with your classmates and teachers to install rainwater harvesting systems! Climate change leaves many communities vulnerable to drought. As water becomes scarcer, we need to ensure that we can resist this disaster. Lets save some H2O!

03

Organize a walk and roll to school day

Bike, skate, scooter, walk, run, carpool, roller skate, even crawl! Regardless of what you choose, it is better than using the cars people typically take to school everyday. By walking and rolling to school, we can reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that get released into our atmosp

04

Power off.

When you're in a classroom, check to see that all the computers that aren't in use are turned off! Make sure the lights are shut when no one is in the room. Electricity produces greenhouse gases when burned, and contributes to the pollution of our air.One 60-watt bulb emits 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide. By keeping the amount of electricity use to a minimum and reducing waste, we can help combat climate change!
